Enter a figure here if you know your stuff and would like to calculate the amp hours you’ll need for your system. If this is all foreign to you, you’re best to leave this part up to an expert solar installer. Leaving this field blank will not affect your calculation.

This is another optional field. The depth of discharge is the amount of charge you wish to leave in the battery at all times. In short, the more batteries are fully drained (discharged), the shorter their lifespan. We recommend a depth of discharge of 90% as it is likely that your solar system will produce some solar power in any given 3- 5 day period, even in the most adverse weather conditions. Therefore, your battery bank is unlikely to ever fully discharge.

It may be wise to build in a buffer to your projected solar power figures. The reason; this calculator does not factor in site-specific conditions like: shading, roof tilt and the direction the roof faces. All of these variables can affect the generation of solar power and can be calculated using the solar power calculator.

Select the amount of daylight hours your panels lose through shading or obstruction (use half hour units).

Use these advanced options if you really know your stuff! 1 / 5
